Another Freshly Made Sketch, Another Christmas Card

This week brought another great sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

I knew I wanted to create my main shape by using the void technique with the embossing folders, but I'm not sure that I quite accomplished what I was trying to accomplish with this card.  I even embossed the edge of the main image panel, thinking that might be the extra something it was missing, but I don't think it quite did the trick. And the cluster of shapes on the left stumped me, too.  First I had some gold embossed trees from an old Hostess Set, Patterned Pines, but they seemed too big.  When I thought to cut out the Petals-A-Plenty flowers, I was really patting myself on the back, thinking that would be the trick, but I'm still not so sure.  At any rate, I'll let you judge the card.  Here it is...

Supplies Used
Card Stock:  Soft Suede, Old Olive, Whisper White, Real Red, Merry Moments DSP
Ink:  Real Red, VersaMark
Stamp Sets:  Contempo Christmas
Other:  Big Shot, Petals-A-Plenty EF, gold EP, brayer, eyelet border punch

  1. Yeah CJ! Great idea to use this embossing folder, love how you inked it and created a negative space for the sentiment. Wonderful work! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.

  3. What a great. Idea, CJ. I still haven't figured out how to do this kind of embossing yet but I love the look of it. The negative space truly stands out and leaves a clean space for the sentiment to shine.
